About Us


Janet Halley, Director-  Jan is an Occupational Therapist with 28 years of experience working with infants and toddlers with vision and hearing loss.  She specializes in child development, the impact of a vision or hearing loss on development and communication, and comprehensive communication approaches for young children with complex needs.  Jan has had extensive training in types of visual impairments, hearing loss and amplification, specialized teaching techniques, and promoting compensatory skills.  She works directly with infants who are blind and visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, and deafblind and is also responsible for overall program development and management.

Maggie Leary, Administrative Assistant- Maggie has been with the MICE Program for 6 years as the Administrative Assistant and office manager.  She is responsible for taking referrals and intake information, database management and data collection, mailings, statistics, and budget/bookkeeping.  Maggie provides secretarial support to staff, assists with conference planning and set-up, and keeps the office running smoothly.  She is often the first contact that families and professionals have when they contact the MICE Program office.

Beverly Temple, Teacher of Students who are Visually Impaired- Beverly has 17 years experience as a teacher of the visually impaired with the last 12 years specializing in working with infants and toddlers with visual impairments. She has worked with young children with varying degrees of vision loss in home and school settings.  She has expertise in Braille, tactile teaching techniques, and specialized teaching strategies.  Beverly has taken an intensive training in working with children with cortical visual impairment and has expertise in assessment and treatment of children with CVI. She currently acts as a consultant for the MICE Program in central and eastern New Hampshire and provides services to infants and their families within the child’s home or daycare setting.  Beverly provides consultation and technical assistance to Early Supports and Services professionals and assists in the transition process to school settings at age 3.

Carol Atteberry, Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing- Carol joined the MICE Program staff in 2006 and provides services to infants and toddlers with hearing loss.  Carol has extensive experience in working with children of all ages using an auditory-oral approach.  Her experience includes 12 years teaching at the Clark School for the Deaf, 1 year at Hear in New Hampshire, and experience as an itinerant teacher for both the Biddeford Public Schools in Maine and Springfield Public Schools in Mass. Carol has taken additional course work in American Sign Language, has worked with young children with cochlear implants, and has expertise in management of amplification. Carol provides services to infants and toddlers with hearing loss on a statewide basis.  She provides direct services to infants as well as providing consultation and technical assistance to Early Supports and Services staff.

Tina Cook, Teacher of Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing- Tina works part time for the MICE Program providing services to infants and toddlers with hearing loss in the Southeastern part of New Hampshire.  She is a expertise in American Sign Language, use of visual information to enhance language, sequence of language development for young children with hearing loss, and teaching strategies.  In addition, she has training and experience in working with young children with cochlear implants.  She has 30 years of experience as the teacher of the preschool at the Manchester Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing and has worked for the past 5 years as a consultant to the MICE Program. Tina provides both direct and consultative services on behalf of young children with hearing loss and has represented the MICE Program on several committees.

Dawn Zimmerman, Speech and Language Pathologist- Dawn serves as the Family Advocate and coordinates the EARS Project (Education, Advocacy, Resources, and Support for Families with Infants and Children who have a suspected or confirmed Hearing Loss).  Dawn has experience and expertise in the language development of young children with hearing loss using an auditory-oral approach.  She is knowledgeable about vocabulary development, syntax, articulation issues, and auditory/language learning.  She specializes in the needs of young children with cochlear implants. Dawn provides inservice training and conferences for professionals to build the capacity of local providers.  She has extensive background working with families of young children with hearing loss and was the Director of Ohio Valley Voices Infant and Toddler Program in Ohio for x years.  Dawn joined the MICE Program as the EARS Family Advocate in 2008 and also provides consultative services for infants and families on a contracted basis.

Contracted Staff

Kim Conlon, Deafblind Specialist- As the Deafblind Consultant for the state of New Hampshire, Kim works across agencies providing supports to children with a dual sensory impairment (both vision and hearing loss) from birth to 22 years of age.  She has training and expertise in the unique needs of children who are deafblind and specializes in communication strategies for children with dual sensory loss. Previously,  Kim worked for 11 years at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA and was a teacher in a preschool classroom for 6 of those years.  Kim is hired through a federal grant that is administered through the New England Deafblind Consortium (NEDBC) and is employed by ATECH Services.  She provides services to infants and toddler who are deafblind through a cooperative agency agreement with ATECH Services.  Kim has training and experience in working with children who have complex medical needs and/or multiple disabilities.  She provides training and technical assistance on behalf of children (birth to 22 years) on a statewide basis.

Hannelore Roesch, Orientation and Mobility Specialist-  Lore is employed through a contract with the MICE Program to provide direct Orientation and Mobility Services to infants and toddlers as needed.  She works with children and families on body awareness, spatial skills, orientation in space, and independent travel skills including use of a long cane if appropriate.

Donna Richard, Teacher for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing-  Donna is contracted by MICE to work with specific children/families providing at home support, direct teaching strategies, and technical assistance.  She works with families in the northeastern part of New Hampshire.  Donna primarily works with school age children through ATECH services or with private contracts to schools.
