Hearing Loss

The E.A.R.S. program is a part of the New Hampshire Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program. The program works in conjunction with birth hospitals and testing centers to provide families with support during the testing process. The E.A.R.S. Family Advocate assists families whose children refer on newborn hearing screenings with the diagnostic testing process and with referral to Family-Centered Early Supports and Services, if needed.

Some of the services provided at no cost include:

  • Providing information about hearing tests, test results, and early intervention
  • Assisting with setting up appointments
  • Helping to find transportation to get to appointments
  • Making home visits to discuss hearing tests, test results, and early intervention
  • Getting interpreter services as needed
